I was sitting in a café in Venice with a nice gelato in my hand when I happened to see this seen. Whoever was cleaning up the crumbs from the café and gone and left the broom (and crumbs) behind. The birds were really enjoying their windfall!

My grandmother used many a ball jar in her canning. I’ve kept a few of the old blue ones as a remembrance and they make wonderful vases! Especially when the sunlight shines through them.

I visited this amazing market in the French town of Sarlat. It’s where a portion of Cinderella was filmed. So many red umbrellas and baskets. This was one of my favorite spots – the bread tent. Can’t you smell it?

I teach a workshop every year in New Orleans, LA and the French Quarter scenes are rather dear to my heart. These carriages are always lined up. I love to pet the horses before venturing off to get a beignet.

This magnificent courtyard can be found tucked away down an alley in the New Orleans French Quarter. The fountain, the bird cages and tons of plants make for the most wonderful atmosphere! I’ll take a margarita on the rocks, please!

For some reason, when I’m traveling a flock of sheep simply captures me! You’d think we don’t have sheep in the US. Perhaps it’s because they are always seen in the landscape in wonderful little groups. I think these ladies are on the way to lunch.

This piece is one of my first and one of my favorites. I learned so much with this piece. Whites are not actually “white”, but tints of all sorts of colors being reflected off anything around them!

This is my big old boy, Oreo. He’s part Maine Coon and BIG and he’s not shy around the food bowl. Hence the reference to “double stuffed”.

I loved painting this piece. Sometimes when I’m painting a plant, I’ll look around the room to try and find something that I could use as a background. In this case, I used some tile pieces and part of a window. It was a fun puzzle for me and I love how it turned out.

This beautiful harbor is located in Hydra, Greece. Hydra is a very small island where only boats and donkeys provide transportation. I loved the bright red of this boat against the beautiful blue water!

This piece incorporates the use of a tjap stamp. A tjap is a stamp made completely of copper and used to dip into the wax to make a print. On this particular piece I used it to do a rubbing for the border!

Baruna is a small island just a short boat ride from Venice. The buildings are all brightly colored and there are canals, just as in Venice. It’s such a beautiful place!

I love painting florals in batik. These magnolias bloom on a tree next door and I wait for them each year. Most years, the frost kills them the day after they bloom. So, I painted them and now I have them whenever I wish.
