Dear Readers, this week we have a guest writer who has graciously offered to write my blog so I can go to bed early this evening. And so, without further ado, here she is:
Painting here is like heaven on earth. All your dreams seem possible, especially you’re painting dreams!! The paint flows along with the wine…you seem to paint without effort. I’ve left my inhibitions at home along with all my responsibilities.
After seeing all the wonderful paintings in the museum in Paris and Giverney, I decided I’ve been too critical of my painting efforts. I’ve resolved to be kinder to myself and approve of loosening up my painting techniques…a lot. That’s easier said than done but I’m trying. Kathie is teaching us skills to make it easier for us to be loose women and one man. We are learning lots of negative painting techniques which make our paintings flow and grow so much faster and easier.
Did I mention the food???? Maybe the wonderful food is fueling our painting frenzy!!!! It is healthy but tastes way too good to be called healthy. The desserts call your name in a very seductive way! The great thing about it is I don’t feel guilty about eating dessert because I’m walking miles and miles…uphill and down!!!
Le Vieux Couvent is like no place else in the world!!! Each room has its own story and decor. We have all bonded with our bed chambers and love them. I am dreaming away each night under a beautiful pink canopy. How could these dreams not be special??? I look out my windows and see the medieval church, which rules our day with its lovely bells.

Our days are filled with wine, roses, and anemones!!! The grounds of Le Vieux are even more spectacular than our rooms!!! There are so many fantastic trails through the lovely mazes of flowers. You can really take time to smell the roses!!!
In short I feel like I’m Cinderella!!!! But more about that later…
IT WAS AT THIS MOMENT WE LOST OUR GUEST BLOG WRITER. THE DINNER BELL RANG AND SHE WAS OFF TO MEET EVERYONE FOR A WONDERFUL PART OF THE DAY…DINNER.
Thank you, guest writer for your wonderful post, and such nice words!
And thank you, readers!
Kathie
Love it. Keep the posts coming
Awww! This post makes me jealous. I recognize the patio and hearing the bells. I will never forget those 10 days and the following days in Paris with two new friends from the workshop. Kathie inspired me to become a “looser women” too. I will have to attend upcoming workshops with her to reach that goal. Hopefully Spain will be as wonderful as France was and then there is Italy! I am saving my dollars toward those adventures.
PS: Tell Kathie i said to get some rest! She deserve it! She is so giving of herself and her talent and she spends so much time taking us to some wonderful places to explore and paint.
Merci Kathie!
Beth
I know exactly what you are saying! I was so inspired that I am finishing painting my drawings and believe it or not Kathy, painting much looser! Le Vieux is such a peaceful haven and Corrine, Bill and their staff are wonderful. I so miss waking up to the smell of hot croissants, the fantastic food, and the wine… But most of all the wonderful people I got to meet during this journey. Enjoy the trip, it goes by all too fast. Au revoir
Hmmmm, I think I recognize your mystery writer this week Kathie. Her flair for fashion (“more is more!”), her curly girl hair, and her kindness, too. I’m so glad you got some rest. Thank you for the most amazing workshop of my life last week with you at Le Vieux Couvent. The only bad part is every morning back here in Texas I awaken with a little tear rolling down my cheek, because there are no warm croissants waiting for me downstairs in the LVC kitchen, and no Kathie with her magic watercolor brush waiting upstairs in the LVC art studio. Please tell Missus Ghost Writer hello for me and give her a big ole hug. And if you just so happen to run into a truffle pig at the base of a tall hill, I have the phone number for a good cab company I’ll share with you. xo
Nancy, I know what you mean about the little tear. We had such a wonderful experience both with the instructor and the students. The food was out of this world and Bill, Corrine and Joel and the rest of the staff were so gracious, waking up each day was a pleasure. Kathie, look forward to seeing you in Raleigh!
Feeling “homesick” for Le Vieux !!! The most wonderful 10 days of my life was spent there in 2010 along with Kathie. (And of course, my husband, too) I can smell the roses, see those huge, beautiful poppies in the garden, and taste Corrine’s delicious foods. Someday, yes someday I hope to go back there.
Sigh………….
Oh, this sounds so heavenly! Wish I were there or maybe I will be next year or the next…my bucket list is growing each day.
Hmm, do you think it takes a trip abroad to become a loose woman? Kathy has worked on me and I’m SLOWLY getting there. Kudos to our ghost writer..maybe others will take a turn so we can here from more lucky travelers and give Kathy a night off? What a memory!
Sounds like you’re all having a wonderful time. Now I’m really lonesome for LVC and my “princess suite” with the canopy bed and a view of the church and the garden. It is such a lovely place. I really need a “loose” refresher course and a yummy bottle of wine. Thanks so much for sharing. Kathy xoxo
What a wonderful time you are all having..wish I could be there.
