Frequently Asked Questions

about the Designing Watercolor Batiks e-course by Kathie George

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE COURSE?

This is Kathie’s original “Designing Watercolor Batiks” online course that I have offered in the past, but this time you have the opportunity to take it as a self-study class. Start painting right away, with access to all of the lessons. There are no live or zoom classes – everything is prerecorded so you can watch at your own convenience and on your own schedule!

You will have UNLIMITED access to this course. You can stream the video anytime and anywhere, from any device you wish with our Vimeo link.

You will have access to the lessons for 5 (five) years.

WHAT IF I’M NEW TO PAINTING?

You do not need any watercolor skills for this class. All of the supplies and basic skills are shown in easy-to-watch video lessons that are included with the class! In addition, there are practice paint-alongs to get you up to speed. This is a complete course, teaching you all of the important skills you need to know, such as ‘which subjects make the best batiks’ to “Kathie’s personal tips for success”. You even have access to previous zoom critique sessions that will give you a wealth of knowledge.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?

Few and simple supplies, some of which may already have such as paraffin wax, in your kitchen pantry. Many of the other items can be found on our website. You can find the supply list by clicking tab below.

HOW DOES THE FACEBOOK GROUP WORK?

For those on Facebook, we have our own private group, so you can feel secure about posting in-process or completed pieces whenever you wish! It is a great place to get encouragement and genuine care from our very supportive group, some of which have taken the course in the past.

YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PREVIOUS ZOOM MEETINGS

Although there will be no live zooms during this self-study class, you will still have access to one of the best teaching sections of this course – the previously recorded zoom sessions. You will have access to these sessions whether you sign up for the personal critique option or not.

The First Meeting is all about choosing the right photo for your batik. During the meeting, Kathie personally looks at each students photo, explaining why it would make a good or bad choice for a batik painting – and WHY! This is the first step for setting yourself up for success!

The Second Meeting – once you have worked through the entire process and removed the wax from your painting, you will definitely want to watch this video! This meeting is full of critiques of finished batik paintings and invaluable information for your own work.

These two previously recorded live zoom meetings will be available to you within the course, whether you choose the personal critique option or not.

HOW DOES THE PERSONAL CRITIQUE AT THE END OF THE COURSE WORK?

If you choose the Personal Critique option, you will be able to receive personal assistance from Kathie at two important times during the course – one critique for photos you have chosen, and the second is a critique of your finished piece. And remember, this is all at your own pace so there is a tab inside the course where you can submit for your critiques when you are ready. It’s that easy!

WHAT IF I’M UNHAPPY WITH THE COURSE?

Kathie’s goal for this course is to share with you all the information and skills that she has developed over her own career. She wants you to be successful! And while she doesn’t expect you to be an expert at this technique after one painting, she DOES want you to be happy that you took the course and feel that it is a good value. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us within the first 10 days and we will give you a total refund.

What Kathie’s Students are Saying

I’m writing to make sure you understand how excited I am to be taking classes with you, even if virtually. I love batiking and can’t wait to learn how to design my own.

I saw an article in Watercolor Magazine in which you had been featured and I was hooked!  Your lesson packets are amazing and I have learned so much from them. But now I am very excited to learn exactly how you do your designs. I can’t wait!

I taught myself to batik from the many step-by-step lessons on offer on your website. I was recently accepted into signature membership of my state Watercolor Society! Thank you!

It was fun and exciting to finally be able to see how you think as you work thru the batik process! You have a gift, Kathie. I especially appreciate the encouragement you gave me and what I see you giving to other students.
