It was time. I knew that my locks would be falling out soon, so I decided to stop splitting hairs and shave it. Although patches were still intact, when I looked in the mirror the thought that entered my mind was it is “time to take rover to the groomer”. Since I’ve been told that I’m in good company and there are many cool bald people out there, I decided to investigate and here the results of my research. Sigh.
Just this strange, short post for you today. I don’t know what came over me.
Next week I promise something fun!
Thanks so much for reading.
Kathie
Your humour makes myday
You are indeed in good company
Take care of yourself as well as you take care of us.
so many of us out here in the artworld -like this one you’ve never met – are holding you close to our hearts and supporting you through this therapeutic adventure….
WOW! What a perfect shape! You don’t have to worry about ‘bad hair’ days. Thanks for sharing.
Been thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. I’m sure you are the cutest bald person out there. Hope your treatments are going well and you aren’t feeling too bad. My son will be getting his 4th of 12 today. Think of you every time we go to chemo.
Pat
A blank painting palette! The decision is…..should Hubby give you a scalp massage or finger paint! Go for both? Stay brave, we love you.
Looking good, brave warrior! Please continue to share your journey

I ADORE your sense of humor thru all this!!! I am so in awe of your spunk! You GO girl!!! All my love!!! And healing thoughts and prayers, too, of course!

Kathie, you are my hero!
I admire your spunk…strong woman! You’re in my prayers.
Hang in there Kathie, you are a tough lady and will be a stronger person after this is all finished. Think of you often and keep you in my prayers. We have the same birth-mark. Love you and positive thoughts. Sharma
You are beautiful, girl. Think of all the fun wigs you can play with, like the ladies in the spy movies! I had homemade donuts the other night and thought of you fondly. xo
Wow. You have a really great round head. You are the best. Continued love and prayers going your way.
Kathy…you are so brave and wonderful…you are an inspiration to all… I continually keep you in prayer!
Be thankful you’re not a cone head! No doubt you are the cutest gal ever, rocking that bald head! Tho, I’ve never been bald, I’ve had friends who were so I also know you are missing your lovely, shiny hair. If my hair was gone I can think of these pluses …..savings on hair products, no more 2 shampoos & I conditioning in the shower, no longer having to dye the gray roots…ugh, no more tedious drying & styling and no more bad hair days! Hang in there….sending love & prayers your way.
Kathie, Love your sense of humor. Just think of all the great hats you can wear! You’ll get through this easily with your great attitude.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, and sending lots of love your way. Praying you can keep up your strength and fighting spirit, love you!
I know that we all do what we must, but your strength, courage and sense of humor continue to amaze me! I’m praying for you and love you!

I’ve been told this is one of the tougher challenges for women….and you did it!! Now you can concentrate on kicking cancer to the curb! Lots of love and positive energy for you Kathie
You’re a brave lady & I, too, admire your spunk! Your positive attitude & outlook is an inspiration. Keeping you in my prayers daily!

You are beautiful, through and through! I did bald in support for a friend with cancer and found it liberating not having to spending lots of time in the bathroom fixing my hair — so much work. You now have more time for more important things!
Sending love and prayers Kathy! You are so brave…..my hero! 🙂
I thought your head would be larger….it contains so much creativity!!!! Nevertheless, Bald is Beautiful…we love you.
As always, you are beautiful, Kathie!! A new dementional painting surface!!
Believe it or not, I would have recognized you!!!! You are still teaching…now your teaching others to weather difficult time with grace and humor!!! God bless you!!! Love you. Sylvia
You are a phenomenal woman! ((( )))
Your head is beautifully round, who needs wigs with that shape of head and amazing hand painted scarfs. Many hugs and prayers
The pastor in our church has gone through chemo too and decided to get a couple wigs. She has been a blond and decided to try out being a red head. She said that the hair color change charged her spirit up. Your color palette is now open! You are so brave sharing this.
Your wonderful, positive attitude is half the battle. If we could, we all would be right there holding your hand, but I hope you can feel all the love pouring out to you. Maybe you should get the M & M painted on that beautiful bald head but then again, maybe not – people might be trying to lick it!
Just think of the time and shampoo you’ll save in the meantime! Glad to hear that you still have your spunk….
You are an awesome, brave woman with an apparently perfect shaped head!
You are so brave. You manage to find joy in every journey including this one.
You look great! I did the same thing. My husband shaved my head and got it over with. But you are beautiful. My head made me look like a little old
Man
You have such a beautiful head…i guess to match your beautiful soul…thinking of you sweetie…God Bless…
It is a clean palette looking to be painted! Come on creative ideas! Take care of you!
You are an amazing woman and God loves you, Jeanne
You are beautiful with or without hair. Keep being strong!
I salute you. You are a warrior and full of fight. Just envision all those chemo drops that kicked out your hair as pac men gobbling up the cancer cells. Prayers for you and your husband to fight on.
Hi Kathy. you are very brave
You are on the list for the prayer warriors in the villages. Love you
Hey Kathie, I promise…it WILL grow back! And just think…you don’t have to bother with curling, combing, brushing, shampooing, etc.! It is so easy to care for now! After I lost mine I found cute ways to tie on scarves. I didn’t even buy a wig because I knew there were a lot of women just like me, and I met some wonderful gals who identified with me. Had I been wearing a wig I would never have met them! You continue to be in my prayers.
You are beautiful and such an inspiration for all of us. We love you. Rock on!
You are forever inspiring me! thanks for being part of my world.
Gee, you’re all ready for the summer heat! You have a cool head on your shoulders & the shape’s not bad either. I know you will think up something fun to do with being bald. Regardless of whether you are hair or hairless, you are still the same beautiful person. And according to all the posts, there are lots & lots of folks that feel the same way. XO
You are beautiful inside and out! Prayers, love and hugs to you and your family. Keep up your incredible sense of humor which will get you through this.
My husband toldme that my hair never looked better than when I didn’t have any . You get to try all the great styles as it grows out .Take care. Stay away from sick people. See you in August. Love you much.
Hang in there! Keep your sense of humor and this will pass quicker. Thank you for sharing!
Wow! What a great shaped head you have! And lots of talent and brains in there too. Keep up the great attitude. This too shall pass and we will have some fun in the mountains in July. Sending hugs. Elaine
I love you Kathie, like a sister. Be well. That is my prayer.
You are doing this! With amazing style! Sending heartstrings.
You are so beautiful!!! Can’t wait to see if your hair is straight or curly when it grows back. Friends have told me the texture can sometimes change. Sometimes I wish we could all go bald. As mentioned above, it would save us a lot of money and stress when it looks awful. Yours will be so healthy. It’s like cutting down bushes; they grow back more beautiful than ever. Your hair will, too.
I appreciate your humor. You inspire me in so many ways. I’m doing your 30 day challange. I think you’re up to about Day 16. I think I am on Day 9. It is a challenge for sure but very good program as is everything you do. Thanks so much for all you do for us. Much love and many prayers sent your way.
See? Bald can be beautiful! Think of yourself as an Ukranian egg and have a henna design put on for fun! Good luck!
You are absolutely the cutest, brightest, & most creative light bulb I’ve ever known! You are constantly in my prayers. Big Hug!!
Bravo! Scary step, but you will get used to it; I have a friend who had a henna tree of life “tattooed” up her neck and over her head. Do something artsy and as cool as YOU are! Sending healing vibes and hugs your way.
First, I pictured you with a gorgeous colorful scarf over your head, then I looked again and realized your head really is beautiful without one! So, you have options! Hang in there.
You just can’t hide beauty. You certainly can’t shave it! Love you
You brave girl…you are going to beat this! Thanks for sharing your baldness with us. I think that would be a hard thing to do, but you did it! Keep up this courageous fight and thanks for sharing it with us. You are in my prayers.
Go Girl. I think you chose a great group to emulate! Gollum can chase away those bad cells. Homer and Dr. Evil can outsmart them. The Coneheads can send them to outer space.
In your journey with this, May you be as strong and bad— as Demi Moore (GI Jane) / as pretty as Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway/ as spiritual as the Delai Lama and Ghandi / as adorable as Tweety/ as popular as Barbie/ as loveable as Charlie Brown and last but not least as sexy as Ms. M&M.
Hold your head up – Be proud! We are all pulling for you.
Hugs
Love this week’s title “Breaking Bald”.
Next week: “Full Frontal Bald-ity”?
Hi,Kathie,
Your sense of humor is infectious and inspirational, in light of the treatment you are going through right now. It makes us all keep things in perspective and remember what’s important in live and what is not. You make every one of us smile- that’s just one of the many gifts we receive from you. Keep fighting the fight- and don’t ever stop writing or creating art!
PS- As an aside, thanks to you, I continue to enjoy make watercolor batiks using your method. One of them was just accepted by the NWS for their annual show in San Pedro, CA! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You ROCK!! Heart hugs coming your way.
Kathie: I have three batik paintings hanging in my home that I have done in your classes in Florida. Every day I look at them and then say a little prayer for your road to a healthy life after this setback. Always enjoy your posts and admire your positive attitude that brighten up my day. You are such a special person!
I wish the front of my head looked as good as the back of yours!
You have always been and always will be, a beautiful sister, inside and out!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
Just take care and get well
Kathie, you are so brave to share your journey with all of us. I’m praying for you and sending good energy your way.
You’re in my prayers!
Instead of pulling your hair out you should have paid your taxes. If lunch is in your future call me.
Love ya,
Linda
You are beautiful no matter what!
Even you bald head is beautiful! So powerful.
Much love & many prayers!
At first, when I saw the shape of a head, I thought you had another drawing project for us. The shape is regal and serene. It reminded me of Queen Nefertiti, a favorite Egyptian figure that I have in Egyptian stone. Love, the shape. Then, I read that it was “YOU”, our Kathie! Wishing you the best. My offer still stands! Queen Kathie, all you need is a side view and a gold hat!!!
You are one of the bravest women I have ever met. Sharing your toughest times with style and grace. Using your wonderful sense of humor to put everyone around you at ease shows your strength as our fearless teacher and friend. God bless you.
Praying for you to have the strength to keep fighting through this challenge.
One of many of the people you have touched with your kind and gentle style.
XO, Pat
you are such a jewel. I also took the razor to my head when my hair started falling out. I too was a member of “Breaking Bald” keep up your spirit. As my mother always told me, ‘take care of today and tomorrow will take care of itself’ I thought of that quote a lot when I was going through my treatment! Got bless you and my His loving hands watch over you. Prayers your way. Your friend. . .
You are an inspiration, both artistically and spiritually! Sending you healing thoughts!
Your head is so perfectly shaped!!! You are in my thoughts daily, Kathie! You must be getting really warm from all the hugs coming your way! Love you!
I had my husband take the dog clippers to my hair or what was left of it. But, bald is beautiful. No bad hair days. Prayers for you.
You made me smile when I saw the “company your keeping”. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs
Thinking of you Kathie, with positive thoughts! XOXO
I am an old oncology nurse and I have always felt that the hair loss was one of the most difficult parts of the journey back to health…. You have faced it head on (no pun intended) and cause all of us to admire your strength and chutzpah!!! It will carry you across the finish line!!❤️
Kathy, you are such a beautiful person inside and out that you do not need hair for that true beauty of yours to shine through.
Your smile, personality and just the whole you is what we all love and enjoy. Who needs hair it just takes us longer to get to doing what we enjoy doing.
Love you girl
Kathi — You are beautiful with or without hair. And just think how cute that new short hairstyle is going to be. And all those cute hats!! Your sense of humor will get you through this as well as all the people who love you. Hang in there —
Hi Kathy, continue to keep you in my prayers. Tough times, but you will get through this. Barbara
Kathy, you can do this….and thank goodness you have a pretty bald head! Thoughts and prayers.
Kathie, I so love your since of humor. Now arn’t you glad you didn’t have a cone head. Looks perfect. I thought mine had a few dents when I shaved my head as you did. You are loved by many. Stay in touch with us. Many Blessings.
You are an inspiration to many. Please keep sharing and keep that great attitude. It will help in your journey.
YOU are why I look forward to Tuesdays! We are praying for your speedy recovery. May God bless you mightily!
Do you know how much you are loved, with or without your locks. You will always be loved. You can’t get rid of a pest like me.
When my friend Peggy started going bald, she did what you did, she shaved it off. She tried wearing wigs but we all agreed that she was cuter without the wig. Her hair came back and it was really pretty and curly, which surprised Peggy. I know you have to be as cute as Peggy. I am wearing my pink in my hair for you, Peggy and all breast cancer warriors. Absolutely loving the 30 day drawing challenge too. You are just awesome!! Sending you lots of good thoughts and prayers 🙂
Kathy, you are amazing. I did the same thing two years ago. It was no time that my hair came back. I now have a full
head of hair. You will be the same. Just take care of yourself and get lots of rest. This will be over soon.
Love and God bless. Mary Helen
How brave to share your photo. I was surprised that your beautiful head hasn’t been adorned in any way yet. Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way.
Wonderful ! Thanks for sharing. I shared with a cousin who’s going through chemo and lost a lot of thick long black hair. You pay homage to my fav philosophy…” if you stop laughing it’s all over.” Keep laughing and God bless.
Awesome! Your beautiful bald head reminds me of the day my daughter Robbin had her head shaved. I told her then that I had forgotten how beautifully shaped her head was. Your hair will grow back, and even though you have lost your hair temporarily, I hope you never lose your sense of humor. Your courage is remarkable! Looking forward to future Tuesday Tips as well as updates on your battle!
Kathy, hold the Dollie I made you. She is there to comfort and keep you company when your down. Very brave of you to post your picture. God Bless you……I know you will get through this. Joanna Walker
Kathie, haven’t written in a while, but know that I am thinking of you and winning your battle with this deadly disease. Love and hugs.
You are an amazing woman! Prayers for healing and a fast recovery! Thank you for your updates – you are inspiring many women with your journey. ❤️
Love your sense of humor making the hairless comparisons; but your head is the most beautiful by far … A total work of art. Be strong, get better soon!
I love your robustness, I’m going thru chemo for lymphoma (stage 3b) , my last week of chemo begins June 16 (ironically, that will be the 1 year anniversary of my husband’s passing … thinking it will be an emotional day). I’d love to go to Spain, maybe not ready for2016, but am saving and planning. Thanks again for all you do and whose lives you touch and aren’t even aware of. God bless! <3
